The Masaka massive murders bring to remembrance the president’s desire to scrap bail as a constitutional right for capital offenders, something he has willed would happen for over a decade now.

Constitutional experts however disagree on this as it will destroy the principle of , “presumption of innocence” for the suspect.

Under the charge of aiding and abetting terrorism, the legislators(MPs Ssegirinya Muhammad and Ssewanyana Allan) are accused of financing  Mike Sserwadda, Jude Muwonge, Wamala Bulo, and John Mugerwa.

The MPs allegedly committed the offences between January and August 2021.

Today opposition MPs  at a press conference disagree with the scrap of bail as a constitutional right.. “there is no law that guarantees the president to remove bail – Basaalirwa .
