As per the world watch list (WWL) – an annual report prepared and published by the World Watch Research team of Open Doors ; every day, 8 Christians worldwide are killed because of their faith.
Every week, 182 churches or Christian buildings are attacked.
And every month, 309 Christians are imprisoned unjustly.
According to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedoms 2020 report, Christians in Burma, China, Eritrea, India, Iran, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Vietnam are persecuted and these countries are labeled highly dangerous zones for the Christian faith, especially for those that choose to wear Christ. These countries are some of the hardest to follow Jesus in.
As the days go by, Christianity is becoming a forbidden faith, even when not all the countries where these persecutions happen are spelled above, however small their cases could be, it is important to know , the increase is evident all around.
In Haiti, a country that not too long ago suffered the loss of their president Jovenel Moïse who was assassinated in his private residence in the capital, Port-au-Prince, on 7 July; 17 missionaries this early October were abducted by a gang: 5 men, 7 women, and 5 children. As by Decision magazine, a paper that exists to communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ, inform and challenge readers about key cultural and Biblical issues, and extend the ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association – The missionaries were 16 Americans and 1 Canadian.
It is still unclear where the victims were being held but authorities say that the gang is demanding a ransom of $1 million per person. According to ABC NEWS, the Haitian Government suspects the gang known as “400 Mawoozo” is responsible for the kidnapping.
Ohio based Christian Aid Ministries confirmed , the missionaries had been sent by their organization and were kidnapped while on a trip to an orphanage. According to witnesses, the missionaries were forced out of their bus by the gang an act that Edward Graham called, “pure evil”
This abduction is by no means the first of its kind in this country as reports by the country’s Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights has recorded more than 600 kidnappings so far this year, with 177 taking place in the last month alone.
As time swings by everyday, it becomes more intense to prophase faith in Jesus Christ. The persecution draws closer and even as you may live in a state/city/country that is dominantly Christian, be sure the time will come for it is part of the package if you believe in the words of Jesus Christ Himself about the last days.
“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.” – {Mathew 10:16 -18}
And now , shall we brace our selves in boldness as we go all the way in prayer, praying for the faith of those that are already facing persecution, that they will not fail nor faint, that they will continually choose their faith over their lives and so shall we all when the time comes since the former is imperishable and the latter perishable yet very masqueraded you could miss its vanity . We shall overcome! – reff {Rev12:11}.
“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”-{Mathew 10:28}
