Ryan is the name of the 5 year old boy that has been trapped in a deep tight well at a depth of about 33 meters for over 40 hours in Morocco near Bab Berred in the rural Northern province of Chefchaouen on Tuesday.

The well has been reported to be very tight and several attempts for 3 days have been to no success. The rescuers also inform the media that the nature of the soil is too dangerous to try to widen the hole which could cause a collapse but instead major excavations around the well as the only solution.

The Moroccan Civil Defense workers are doing all they can to see that Ryan is reunited with his family. They together with the general rescue team have been able to send Ryan food and Oxygen.

In an effort by all Moroccans to rescue Ryan, a 12 year old boy identified as Zakaria has proposed to the officials that he go down to Ryan by rope and bring him out.

The father of Ryan confesses that the boy fell in the well as he tried to repair it. This saddening incident has kept Moroccans glued to their TV sets to follow the story as it develops.

A medical team has been dispatched at the site to administer first aid , a police helicopter too stands by to carry the boy to the nearest hospital once he is out.

The story of Ryan brings to mind another one that happened in Spain in 2019. Jule Rosello, a 2 year old girl went missing for 13 days only to be found dead in an abandoned well, 25 centimeters deep.

Morocco sleeps awake praying for the safety and return of young Ryan to his family with the social media trending hashtag #SaveRyan.
