The Civil Division Court has found Lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi guilty for contempt of court, for the second time.

On the 21 of January 2022, the court cautioned Mabirizi to stop attacking judicial officers a behavior according to State Attorney Patricia Mutesi – continued on the lawyer’s social media platforms against especially presiding judge, Justice Musa Ssekaana.

A fine was imposed on Lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi of 300 million over contempt of court the first time. Mabirizi however didn’t ever pay or give an explanation but called the ruling null and void.

The ruling of Mabirizi’s 18 months term in prison cropped from an application by State Attorney Patricia Mutesi over continuous contemptuous behavior by the controversial lawyer.

“Mabirizi never presented himself to the court after being summoned and neither did he file affidavit to deny the allegations against him. Court has been left no option but to order for his arrest on sight and be taken to prison for 18months.” – Justice Musa Mabirizi.

“The order is illegal because no man can be judge in his own cause. All in all, Ssekaana breached every fair hearing principle and I hence reject his unconstitutional ruling.  I am hopeful that the Court of Appeal will stay the implementation of these illegalities come Monday. I will at no time be bowed by illegal orders.” -Mabirizi.
