Uganda being the hosts of this year’s edition of CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship wasn’t enough glory as crested cranes beat Burundi in the final on Saturday at FUFA Technical Center Njeru 3:1 , emerging winners for the first time ever.
Goals from Sandra Nabweteme and Fazila Ikwaput put Uganda in an early lead, Nabweteme scoring in the early minutes and Ikwaput in the 43rd minute. Nabweteme also scored the third goal bringing Uganda a win as the referee blew the final whistle.
Individual awards were as below;
MVP – Ikwaput Fazila. (Uganda)
Top scorer – Opa Clement. ( Tanzania) 7 goals.
Best goal keeper – Daisy Nakaziro. (Uganda)
Fair play award – Tanzania.
