The UPDF on Monday informed the public that they are set to recruit at least 10.000  more soldiers and the exercise is slated for June 18th – July 4th, 2022.

According to the Defense spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, the force is seeking to recruit 8,300 regular recruits from various districts.

“For one to be recruited , they must be citizens of Uganda holding the original national identity card, must be in good health, medically fit and ready to undergo road run and check ups. They should be between the age of 18-25 or 18-30 if he /she is to enlist as a regular or professional respectively. They must be single with no children to avoid family distraction “. Brig. Gen. Regular recruits minimum education is s.4 or s.6 with a bias in science subjects e.g. physics, chemistry and math.

Professional recruits – degree or diploma in medicine, engineering, chemistry, education or vocational skills qualifications.

“They must be of good character and must be supported by letters from LCs and GISOs.”  Defense spokesperson added.
