PASTORS ARRESTED FOR NOISE POLLUTION.

Two pastors and 3 bar owners have been remanded for noise pollution. Pastors – Edward Mukisa and Herman Ssebunje from Nkumba Miracle Center  in Bendegere village in Katabi town council together with Bar owners of Hide Out Bar and Lounge Kololo were remanded for noise pollution. Two pastors and 3 bar owners have been remanded for noise pollution. Pastors – Edward Mukisa and Herman Ssebunje from Nkumba Miracle Center  in Bendegere village in Katabi town council together with Bar owners of Hide Out Bar and Lounge Kololo were remanded for noise pollution.

Both parties were arrested in an ongoing operation against noise pollution and they were charged with;

“Failure to undertake an environmental and social impact assessment, engaging in activities that result in or aggravate pollution, discharging  and emitting pollutants into the environment, failure to implement regulatory measures, orders, and environmental assessments as required by the National Environment Act ,2019.”

Senior Public Relations Officer NEMA , Tony Acidria says that the suspects were arrested for being notorious noise polluters.

“They are repeat offenders because the noise levels when measured were above the permissible level of 60 decibels during day and 40 decibels in the night for places of worship in residential areas. ” He added.

It is said that the suspects were severally warned to control the noise from their church in vain.

The suspects appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Court  on Tuesday June, 29th and pleaded not guilty.
