Police on Monday 18th revealed that they were investigating Ramathan Ndikuyezi, a prominent Kisoro based business man for allegations of aggravated defilement.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) is actively investigating an alleged case of aggravated defilement and procurement of abortion against a 17 year old female , S.3 student, in one of the schools in Kisoro district by Ndikuyezi , a prominent Estate and fuel dealer in Kisoro district” Enanga said.

The allegations indicate that the business man impregnated a 17 year old, student who went to him looking for a job at his petrol station. Some of the facts gathered by police indicate that this happened during Covid-19 lockdown.

“The suspect instead promised her a job at his estate business. It is during one of the inspections of his estate business that they got involved and started a love affair till April 2022, when the victim realized she was pregnant  and tried to abort secretly, with the help of a medical person in Kisoro”, Enanga reported.

After the failed abortion, the suspect whisked the victim away for fear of the parents, to Kampala. The victim is said to have gotten another job in Bukasa as a house help.

Her health however deteriorated and it was later found out by Quantum medical facility that the fetus was still stuck in her womb. The victim was later transferred to Nsambya hospital for further treatment.

The police encourages the public to not run into conclusions and let them do their work as they wish to treat the victim with respect for all she has had to go through.

“Obviously if the charges are sanctioned, expect us to charge the suspect to court immediately for Human trafficking, aggravated defilement, and procuring an abortion”, police spokesperson, Fred Enanga.

The police spokesperson applauded the parents of the victim for their courageous act of filing the case to police given that the suspect is a prominent business an in the area, he believes that this should encourage other victims or parents of victims to speak up against crime perpetrators.
