A body of a woman was recovered from a trench in Naguru by police on 11th September. The body is suspected to be of Jackline Nakabembe a university student as her relatives identify face and clothing in the pictures taken by police to be hers.

The 3rd year Makerere student who worked with “Wefunile Permit Company Limited” in Ntinda was last seen leaving office to go to the field in Nakawa Division on 8th  September.

Sowedi Bbosa, Jackelin’s brother with whom she lived, tells of how he went searching for his sister who was known to return home usually before 8pm when she did not come back home.

In the morning after checking with her work place but still found no news of Jackline , Bbosa later went to report missing person with the police.

“She used to come back at around 7 pm or 8pm but on that day, she did not. I called her phones throughout the night but they were all switched off,” he said.

Police reports that the body which is assumed to be of Jacky was buried at the KCCA cemetery on 15th September after exceeding the stipulated time for picking from the mortuary.

“But there is a possibility that she might be the person that was buried because the descriptions of the body by the mortuary officials match that of the Nakabembe’s relatives,” Mr. Owoyesigyire said.”

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson insists however, that Jackline will still be treated as missing person until after the DNA is complete and confirms the body is hers.

He did not disclose when the body will be exhumed or even DNA carried out.
