After a gruesome bomb attack on a Pentecostal church in Congo near the Uganda-Congo border where many lost their lives and several got injured, Uganda has beefed up her security.
The Resident District Commissioner for Kasese district – Lt (Rtd) Joe Walusimbi says that the Uganda security forces are on standby to counter any infiltrations of rebels. Mpondwe border post in Kasese district has security beefed up.
“Our soldiers at the border are on standby class one, we are ably manning all our border points; we are on ground because our operations are intelligence-led. Our people should not panic because the situation is under control,” he said.
Due to the bomb blast which occurred on Sunday in Kasindi town about 3 kilometers from Uganda border, security measures have been put; Major Walusimbi however has encouraged those crossing the border to use immigration offices so they are provided with travel documents for security purposes.
Fred Enanga said: “We have put up several measures to avert any hostile infiltrations at Mpondwe. We have stopped the movement of cargo and passenger boats across Lake Albert and other water bodies along that stretch at night.”
South Rwenzori Diocese Bishop Nason Baluku urged church leaders to procure metal detectors to screen Christians at all church entrances, he also said all strange people shoud be reported to the relevant authorities.
