The Plenary sitting was presided over by the deputy speaker of parliament – Mr. Tayebwa. He insisted that the ministry of education present a statement of what measures they have in place to improve education for the people with special needs. He also accused the ministry of sleeping on the job.
The results released by the ministry of Education indicated that of the deaf pupils; only 50 had Div 11, 51 had Div 111 and 56 had Div IV.
“Children with special needs haven’t been given special attention and I would, therefore, request the Minister for Education to present to us a formal statement regarding the performance of students with disabilities,” Mr Tayebwa said.
