Seven school girls have drowned in Guinea after a boat known as a pirogue capsized as they traveled to take a high school entrance exam.

The girls on Sunday picked a pirogue to cross the Niger river in the Northeast of Guinea in West Africa to take a high school entrance exam that begins Monday.

“We are struck by this bad news that seven students lost their lives”, Minister for literacy and per-university Education – Hawing Guillame.

Other reports however suggest that the number 7 is only provisional as the search for more bodies is still on going.
