William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV, the Kyabazinga of Busoga today has celebrated 9 years since he ascended the throne as Nadiope IV of the Soga people.
Busoga okwisania na Maani” the motto is written in Lusoga language. It is translated in English to mean “Unity is Strength or Strength is derived from Unity”. This undeniably has been on the forefront of his leadership, as he continually is calling the Soga people to unity.
The Kyabazinga has also campaigned for education in the region especially for the girl child. The Kyabazinga being at the fore front of this campaign himself has led by example; he flew to the UK and graduated in 2015 with a First Class master’s degree at Coventry University.
Born on November 1, 1988 in Jinja, the reigning Kyabazinga was born to Wilson Gabula Nadiope 111 who died in 1991 and Josephine Nadiope who died in 1993. He became the 4th Kyabazinga on 13th September, 2014 after winning the unanimous vote by the chiefs of Busoga following the death of Kyabazinga Henry Wako Muloki in Sept, 2008.
A Kyabazinga is democratically elected by the Busoga Royal Chiefs’ council, which is comprised of the hereditary chiefs of Butembe, Bugabula, Bukono, Bukooli, Bunga, Bunyole, Bulamogi, Busiki, Luuka, Kigulu, and Bugweri counties.
Celebrations in order.
Congratulations Kyabazinga of Busoga upon your 9th Coronation Anniversary as King!
