The NUP MP for Mityana Municipality, Francis Zaake faces another probe over misconduct, a few weeks after being reinstated to position in Parliament.
Francis Zaake on 9th Oct, 2023, was caught in a video allegedly aggressively questioning why the people voted Rakai woman MP- Kinyamatama Ssubi. The content of the video, Hon. Kinyamatama described as extremely demeaning and not pleasant to the human ear.
Deputy speaker, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa who presided over the plenary session on Thursday referred Zaake to the Rules, Privileges and Discipline Committee over the alleged misconduct led by Hon. Katuntu.
“That’s the video and I refer the matter to the committee of Rules as per Rules 175 of our Rules of procedure. Our chair and your team, you have up to 45 days to respond to the matter”, Deputy speaker added.
In 2022, The Mityana Municipality MP- Hon. Zaake almost faced censorship from parliament due to misconduct after he went ahead to criticize the Hon. speaker, Anita Among on social media (the deputy speaker then) over a matter she had discussed during a plenary session.
At the time, 155 MPs voted for, 4 against, while 2 were invalid votes. The MP was found guilty at the time, of breach of public trust and parliamentary decorum.
Reason for censorship met yet surviving thinly thus returning to the house, one can only wait to see what will happen this time.
