Two children have been confirmed dead with more injured in the Kasaana Junior School fire which gutted the boys’ dormitory at 4am in Masaka district.

The deceased have been identified as; Malik Katende and Aloysius Ahebwa. The affected dormitory was accommodating about 15 children from Top to P1 class according to the authorities.

“Based on our assessment, the probable cause of the fire might have been a short circuit at a point where the matron, Christine Adong,  put a phone charging,” Southern Regional Deputy Police commander Jamada Wandera.

“There shouldn’t be any kind to say that the fire was through ill motive. From our assessment, there  was no ill motive but just a circuit”, He added.

Some of the injured include; Alpha Wasswa, Austine Kisomose, Grant Matovu, Martine Muganga, Arnold Mwesigye and others only identified as SSenoga and Ahimbisibwe.
