Authorities in Kisoro District have detained two men accused of posing as pastors and engaging in inappropriate activities during church gatherings.
The suspects, identified as Gadina Tuyisenge, 24, and Brian Ndizeye, 25, lead the Jerusalem Church in Kasemisego village, Nyakinama Sub-County.
According to Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Vallence Hagumimana, his office was alerted by residents who reported unusual noises and suspicious activity coming from the church.
District officials, including RDC John Nizeyimana, visited the premises and found a closed-door prayer session under way. They say they were shocked to witness congregants behaving in what they described as an “improper and disorderly manner.”
The two leaders were immediately handed over to Kisoro Central Police Station for further questioning.
ASP Alex Tumuheirwe, the Officer-in-Charge, confirmed that investigations were ongoing, promising a thorough inquiry.
When asked about the allegations, Tuyisenge and Ndizeye admitted to leading the church, insisting they had been “performing miracles” for their followers. They claimed the closed-door session was simply meant to shield worshippers from the rain.
Both men remain in police custody as investigations continue.
