Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana has been arrested on his way to the Electoral Commission (EC) offices to attend the nomination of National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi.
Details of the arrest are still scanty, but witnesses said security personnel intercepted Ssewanyana before he could reach the EC offices.
The arrest comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the nomination process with Kyagulanyi expected at the EC headquarters in Lubowa at 2pm.
