The River Nile has overflowed its banks near the village of Wad Ramli, north of Khartoum, inundating homes and streets and forcing residents to flee to safer ground.

The flood swept through the entire area, sparing only a few places. People have begun evacuating the village,” said Ramli Srour, a local resident.

According to local media reports, authorities have inspected several flood-prone areas, including Al Jreif West in Khartoum and the nearby villages of Al-Fakki Hashem, Al-Khalileh, Al-Abdallab, Wausi, and Wad Ramli. Civil defence units and local communities have been deployed to reinforce weak points along the riverbanks and protect residential zones.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation confirmed on Tuesday that water levels in the Nile and its tributaries have risen sharply following days of heavy rainfall. It added that all personnel at reservoirs, monitoring stations, and early warning centres have been fully mobilised to regulate water flow, mitigate the impact of the floods, and provide real-time updates to help protect lives and property.
