Barawe, Somalia — January 26, 2026: The Commander of Battle Group 45, Colonel Justus Musenene, has commended UPDF troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) for their discipline, resilience, and operational readiness.

During an inspection tour of Forward Operating Bases in the Barawe sub-sector, Col Musenene assessed combat preparedness, troop welfare, and overall mission posture. He encouraged continued unity, teamwork, and cooperation, noting that discipline and comradeship are key to mission success. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining good health for long-term service.

Troops described the visit as a significant morale boost, reaffirming their commitment to civilian protection and stabilization efforts. The inspection covered the Runway, Seaport, and Barawe Knoll FOBs and was conducted alongside Lt Col Geoffrey Ochan, Commanding Officer of the 145 Battalion, and other UPDF officers.
