On today’s episode, Pastor Jonathan Lule Kulubye shared a deeply moving testimony of God’s goodness, shaped through discipline, love, and a relentless pursuit of God’s presence.

Pastor Jonathan recounted a defining season of his life when he stayed in the home of a senior pastor and his wife. Each day began early, with prayers running from 5:00 to 7:00 a.m., led by the pastor’s wife. Alongside spiritual duties, his responsibilities at home included simple tasks such as taking care of the dogs yet these moments became part of a greater journey of formation.

Despite the structure and discipline, Pastor Jonathan said he felt truly at home. Having grown up without much parental affection, the love and care he received made him feel like a child embraced by family. That love stirred a desire within him to give back and to grow deeper in God. Life in the pastor’s home demanded both obedience and spiritual hunger. He was assigned chores, but more importantly, he was constantly encouraged to seek God. In that home, telling the pastor that you had been in God’s presence carried more value than anything else.

One night, the Lord spoke to him clearly, telling him, “Your stay here is over.” Soon after, the pastor confirmed the same message, instructing him to return to Matugga, a place he had once run away from.

Though his schedule was tight, Pastor Jonathan embraced every task with joy during his one-year stay. He reflected on his early prayer life, admitting that he initially prayed for only 20 minutes a duration the pastor considered far too short. However, his journey took a turn when a new member joined the home, someone equally passionate about seeking God. That shared hunger became a source of motivation and accountability. Spiritually, Pastor Jonathan grew tremendously. He became actively involved in church life, serving faithfully in the media (machines) ministry and the choir. Regular church attendance and participation in overnight prayers helped him mature in the spiritual realm. In time, he was also filled with the Holy Spirit, noting that he had previously been among the few who had not yet received that experience. His season in the pastor’s home came to a divine conclusion. One night, the Lord spoke to him clearly, telling him, “Your stay here is over.” Soon after, the pastor confirmed the same message, instructing him to return to Matugga, a place he had once run away from.

As the chapter closed, the pastor bid him farewell before traveling to Canada. Eventually, Pastor Jonathan returned and continued serving faithfully in his church in Matugga carrying with him the lessons, love, and spiritual foundation that shaped his calling. His testimony stands as a reminder that God often uses seasons of submission, service, and spiritual discipline to prepare us for purpose.
