U.S. President Donald Trump and his delegation—including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, envoy Steve Witkoff, and ambassador Mike Huckabee—received a standing ovation in the Knesset Today.
Trump is in Israel to address the Knesset, meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the families of hostages, before flying to Egypt for the official signing of the peace deal.
The first phase of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, reached last week, includes a ceasefire, hostage-prisoner exchanges, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces to the “yellow line” in Gaza. Future stages will address Gaza’s governance, the status of Hamas, and reconstruction efforts in the enclave.
On Monday (Today), Hamas handed over 20 living hostages to the Red Cross, while the bodies of 28 deceased hostages are expected to be returned soon. In return, Israel will release about 1,950 Palestinian prisoners, including those detained since October 2023 and 250 serving life sentences
