“These internal divisions are hurting our region. I remain loyal to the NRM and committed to serving my people, regardless of political setbacks,” she said.

“We don’t abduct, we arrest,” Rusoke told journalists. “The public cannot dictate how we carry out arrests because we follow the law. When someone is arrested, they are taken to a police station, a case file is opened — that is not kidnapping.”

He was arrested on 3 September and charged the same day with assault and causing bodily harm. Although he pleaded not guilty and sought bail, the court initially remanded him until a decision on his application.
