Malawi\u2019s President Arthur Peter Mutharika was sworn in on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, marking his return to power at the age of 85. During the ceremony, he vowed to unite the nation and fight corruption across all levels of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Footage from the event shows Chief Justice Rezine Mzikamanda administering the oath as Mutharika placed his hand on the constitution. Accompanied by his wife, the president greeted dignitaries before inspecting a military parade, while traditional dancers performed in celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his inaugural address, Mutharika called for national unity and warned against divisions based on politics or ethnicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo all my friends in the DPP and anyone in public office, remember this: Malawi belongs to all Malawians,\u201d he said. \u201cThis country does not belong to any person, any tribe, or any political party.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president also issued a stern warning against corruption and misuse of power:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will not allow anyone to destroy this country under my watch \u2014 and I mean anyone. Whether you are a party official or whoever you are, I will go after you,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mutharika, leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), secured 56.8% of the vote in the recent presidential election, marking a remarkable political comeback after several years out of office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
