These contributions will enhance early diagnosis and supportive treatment for patients affected by the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Aceng noted that Uganda has made <strong>remarkable progress<\/strong> in combating Sickle Cell Disease, highlighting the following milestones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Becoming the <strong>first country in Africa<\/strong> to conduct a <strong>nationwide Sickle Cell Disease surveillance<\/strong> program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementing <strong>targeted screening<\/strong> in regions with high prevalence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Integrating SCD treatment<\/strong> within the Non-Communicable Diseases Department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Institutionalizing SCD services<\/strong> within the national health system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"630\"
