As the celebrations of the Janani Luwum day draw closer, the arrangements of where the celebrations will happen are very crucial especially to the Church of Uganda and Uganda as a country at large.
Jackson Omona , chairperson of the local organizing committee of Archbishop Janani Luwum day confirms to have received information from the Archbishop of the church of Uganda that it will be one event contrary to what was discussed earlier to hold two events, in Kololo and Kitgum as also the 37 dioceses held their own due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 45th anniversary of the martyrdom will be conducted physically in Wii-Gweng, in Kitgum district. Wii-Gweng is the same village where the late Archbishop was buried.
The government of Uganda gazetted 16th February to remember and celebrate the life and works of Archbishop Janani Luwum of the church of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Boga Zaire who was killed in Feb, 1977.
The theme of the celebrations this year is, ‘Hope Beyond Affliction’, taken from the book of Lamentations 3:21-25
