The BBC has urged its staff to delete the Chinese owned app TikTok over data fears except its needed for business reasons. The video App is owned by firm ByteDance.
BBC is said to have sent a message to its staff on Sunday, “We don’t recommend installing TikTok on a BBC corporate device unless there is a justified business reason.
“If you do not need TikTok for business reasons, TikTok should be deleted,” it added.
The UK on Thursday announced a security ban on TikTok in government devices, in line with action by the European Union and the United States.
BBC says the restrictions are over fears that data could be used or abused by Chinese officials. ByteDance on the other hand insists that it doesn’t keep data in china or share it with Beijing.
