Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defense Forces, met with his Algerian counterpart, General Saïd Chanegriha, to discuss military cooperation and bilateral ties. The meeting, held at the Algerian military headquarters in Algiers, focused on areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the UPDF and the Algerian military. Gen Kainerugaba was received with full military honors and was accompanied by top UPDF Generals, including Maj Gen James Birungi, Maj Gen Bob Ogiki, and Maj Gen Keith Katungi. The two military leaders discussed the upcoming signing of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding between the UPDF and the National People’s Army of Algeria. This visit is part of Gen Kainerugaba’s efforts to strengthen military ties with various countries. Since his appointment as CDF, he has held several meetings with counterparts from all regions of Africa and beyond, including Ethiopia, South Africa, and Mozambique.
