For the first time in the west African country, cases of Marburg have been reported by the country’s health department, on Sunday. The Ghanaian Health authorities reported that two cases of deadly Marburg were confirmed in the southern Ashanti region in Ghana.
Unlike other African countries like, Uganda, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, South Africa that have had previous outbreaks of Marburg, this will be Ghana’s first.
The almost Ebola like dangerous virus has no treatment or vaccine available or even existent as per research. What is known of the disease is not much including that it can be spread from infected animals including bats.
Government greatly warns pubic to stay away from such animal colonies to avoid the spread of the virus further.
Some of the known symptoms of this deadly disease include; internal and external bleeding, high fever and severe headache.
