The Health Ministry recently announced the compulsory Covid -19 vaccination of children between age 5-17 years with or without parental or guardian consent.
The vaccination which is scheduled to start August has gripped fear in the hearts of many Ugandans especially those with children in those ages.
The Ministry of Education however insists that no school going children will be vaccinated against Covid 19 without Ministry of Health obtaining consent from parents and guardians.
Dr. Dennis Mugimba was noted to say, “It is not true that the Ministry of Health will vaccinate children in school against Covid-19 without parents’ or guardians’ consent. All must be done as per guidance given by Education and Sports minister, Ms Janet Museveni”.
The Ministry of Education while addressing a press conference at state house recently had this to say about vaccination, ” When parents feel free to take their children for Covid-19 vaccination, they do it. If they dnt want to vaccinate their children, nobody will force them. It is not compulsory. I do not know where you got that information that it was compulsory” . She wondered.
