The body intends to have a single currency within the region by 2024, however several institutions needed to attain it have not yet been established causing a delay and a developing push of the plan to 2031.
Mr. Mathuki however expressed a concern in extending the common currency deadline as too far; “I am not very sure if you will be patient as well to wait until 2031 to get the EAC currency, we are looking at sooner than later to have it,” he said.
