The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nampiima Faridah was attacked and raided in her home in Rubaga Division-Kampala by assailants on the night of 13th May, 2023- leading to the death of her guard.
ASP Owoyesigyire said that the guard identified as Matia Kintu Salongo was hit by a blunt object on the head leading to his death. It is said that after the scare settled, the landlord rushed the guard to Rubaga hospital which referred them to Mulago Referral hospital since the injuries sustained were severe.
“We got the report at around 7am. It is alleged that assailants who were in company of a dog and armed with pangas (machetes) scaled over a fence that was housing the premises of Kasato Estates that has three houses. One of the houses they targeted was for ASP Nampiima,” Owoyesigire told journalists on Monday.
According to police, some of the items stolen include; an iPhone, a Samsung phone, a flat screen Television and a handbag containing money amounting to 300,000shs – all valued to shs9million.
“According to the statement that we recorded, the officer and the husband heard screams outside and while they were opening the door to investigate, the assailants forcefully pushed themselves inside the house before they started demanding for money and other items,” ASP Owoyesigyire explained.
ASP Nampiima and husband were assaulted but are not in danger as reported by police. Police is carrying out investigations on the circumstances under which all this happened including the death of the guard in Asimbwa zone, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division in Kampala.
