During the 41st Tarehe Sita celebration in Mbale, President Museveni opened boda bodas for the first time since March 2020. The Covid 19 virus caused the heaviest economy shut down in Uganda, including tough restrictions on boda boda operators.
The Boda boda operators in Uganda had a restriction on their operation that was 6am -6pm despite being the biggest mode of transport in the urban areas of Uganda.
“I want to announce that starting tomorrow at 6pm, boda boda riders are opened to continue work. From tomorrow, the boda bodas can work trans night like all the others” – Museveni.
Beginning Monday 7th, boda boda riders can be accessed by the public beyond previously prohibited hours 6pm -5am. The president also encourages the boda boda operators to use the time to work and support their families.
