The permanent secretary at Ministry of public service has announced that the civil servants salary will be delayed unusually this July.

She continued that all public servants would this July not receive salaries on 28th as per standing orders. This information circulated in a letter sent by the permanent secretary to all ministries, departments, agencies and local governments.

“At the beginning of every financial year, this ministry issues a salary structure as a framework that guides the service on the amount of salary to be paid to each category of public officers in that financial year. Issuance of the salary structure for FY 2022/23 has been delayed,” she said in the letter.

The information wasn’t received well by many government employees especially teachers who carry the majority numbers. Mr. Baguma Filbert- the General Secretary of the Uganda National Teachers Union (Unatu), disagrees with the treatment of this occurrence as an emergency by government as he insists they should have known and is only making excuses now.
