DFCU Bank, in partnership with Vision Group, KLM, Embassy of Netherlands in Uganda, and Koudjis, has unveiled the 11th edition of the prestigious Best Farmers Competition. The launch event took place at Prime Agro Farm Ltd. in Zirobwe, owned by last year’s winner, Sebastian Ruta Ngabwa.

This year’s competition focuses on “Value Addition with Focus on Large Scale Farmers and Cooperatives,” aiming to enhance the quality and marketability of farm outputs. Winners from various sub-regions will showcase their innovative approaches to processing, packaging, and branding.

Empowering Farmers, Driving Prosperity
Mathias Jumba, Head of Integrated Channels at DFCU Bank, emphasized the significance of the competition, stating, “The Best Farmers Competition celebrates Uganda’s most impactful farmers, inspiring many more to turn agriculture into sustainable prosperity.”

Alex Madolo, Sector Head of Agriculture at DFCU Bank, added, “We’re privileged to witness the transformation of farmers’ lives through access to finance and training. Our commitment is to support businesses across Uganda.”

New Categories and Achievements
The 2025 competition introduces new categories, including Large-Scale Farmers, Small and Medium-Scale Farmers, and Farmer Cooperatives. The dfcu Foundation has made notable contributions to Uganda’s agricultural sector, including:

– Supporting 1,281 agribusiness enterprises
– Accelerating 490 enterprises
– Achieving a 52% women inclusion rate
– Reaching 59,000 beneficiaries
– Facilitating over $22 million in business linkages
– Connecting 5,000 enterprises to financial services

The Best Farmers Competition continues to promote agricultural excellence and sustainable practices in Uganda, driving growth and prosperity for farmers and agribusinesses nationwide.
