The residents of Buseta sub-county in Kibuku district have been thrown to panic with the unauthorized incidents of bodies being exhumed in the area increasing.

Unknown people have been reported to raid multiple graves at different homesteads and exhumed human remains. Police has reported the tomb raiders to only take skulls of the dead buried for about four years leaving the other body parts.

“This has never happened here.  These could be traditional healers wishing to enrich themselves,” said Tadeo Basalirwa, a parish LC2 chairperson in Kibuku District.

Local authorities suspect that the raids are being done by traditional healers, having most affect graveyards being those scattered in the bushes which gives the raiders more time to exhume as no one in the neighborhood notices hastily.

Investigations are on going as authorities insist the perpetrators must be brought to the book.
