After the death of a Uganda Christian University student on campus at Makerere University during Guild leadership campaigns, the university council chairperson , Lorna Magara has suspended the 88th Guild election.

Betunguura Bewaati Michael who had traveled to the University to give support to his old boy and friend Tukamushaba Justus to rally votes for him under the political party, FDC lost his life after a disagreement between NUP and FDC.

It has been reported that the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock as police confirm that the deceased was stubbed forcefully with a glass on the neck causing excessive bleeding leading to his death.

It is on this events that Magara has also indicated that, ” The Makerere University Student Guild is suspended with immediate effect – This suspension incudes the Guild Caretaker -Government and the Students Common Room.”

“Management shall investigate all causes of violence in the electoral campaigns for the 88th Guild Leadership and report to the council for appropriate action” she added.
