The construction of the multi -million dollar – Namboole National stadium,(Mandela national stadium) started today the 2nd of February, 2022 with Hamson Denis Obua, State minister for sports handing over the construction of the stadium officially to the UPDF engineering brigade who will handle the two phase construction.

Even through a lot of challenges over the years including corruption, the land on the Namboole hill in Bwoyogerere, having been procured 24 years ago, has been home for the Uganda National team -Uganda cranes, and ground for many sports activities.

Renovation and upgrading works on the Mandela stadium will require cooperation of the people with the UPDF engineering brigade especially those that have encroached on the stadium land -state minister for sports reiterates.
