Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, a Ugandan writer who fled to exile after facing arrests, detention and torture for insulting the first family has sued the government of Uganda for torture, detention and unlawful house search.

Through his Ugandan lawyers, Kiiza and Mugisha Advocates, Kakwenza has filed a case in the East African Court of Justice.

Kakwenza wants the government to make a declaration that the detention, tortures and searches conducted in his home were against the law.
