Threatening eviction of over 2000 households in three villages of Rakai District as a woman claims ownership of their dwelling of more than 40years.

Tension has risen among the residents as chairperson says the residents have nowhere to go. The occupants on the other hand insist the land belongs to their an ancestors.

The new land owner Aisha claims to own the land seated on 1 Square mile which is home for about 2500 households in the villages of Kamoma A and Kamoma B in Kyalulangira sub-county.

“After their visit, I equally informed other leaders to invite community members to attend the meeting but what remains undisputed is that residents have been occupying this land for 40years and have nowhere to go.” Chairperson of kyalulangira sub-county -Alex Kamushana.

Aisha’s agents on the other hand however say; “we are going to look for ways of accommodating the sitting tenants and it’s not true that we are here to evict them. The owner of the land wants to develop it by constructing a beach and other recreational facilities.” -Ibrahim Nsubuga ( representative for the said landlord)
