Out of 529 MPs in the 11th parliament, 336 are of the ruling NRM party, 176 are opposition while the remaining number is independent.

On Tuesday, a portion of opposition MPs moved a motion to censure Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the security minister due to the increasing torture cases in the country.

The Opposition MPs led by Hon. Mpuuga accused Jim Muhwezi of failing to do his job well in regards to security of Ugandans seeing the increasing torture cases that were reveled in the media and many more, unseen.

To censure a minister, 176 MPs need to have appended their signatures of which only 60 have so far with the deadline standing at 24th Feb(Thursday) – a 10 working day’s elapse, – under the Parliament Rules of Procedure.
