As magnificent as it is, the shoe bill is a loner mainly found in wetlands, fascinating fact about it is that it bows down to greet those who come close to it, what you have to do is bow to it as well.

However currently the shoe bill is one of the most endangered birds in Uganda, because wetlands are constantly encroached on leading to the loss of its home and illegal trafficking a lot of shoe bills have lost their lives and some injured.

Found in only seven of African countries neighboring Uganda makes the shoe Bill a valuable treasure to the tourism industry of Uganda.

Uganda has about 150 Shoebills remaining in the wild. Conservationists are concerned about the falling numbers.

To protect this endangered species, Uganda’s Wild life Authority is supporting the community’s eco-friendly activities, which helps protect its natural habitat.
