Two foreign tourists with their Ugandan tour guide were killed at Queen Elizabeth National Park by suspected ADF rebels on Tuesday when the assailants attacked their vehicle near the national park in South West Uganda.
The foreign tourists were from UK and South Africa. The police have labeled this extremist act, “cowardly”.
“Our joint forces responded immediately upon receiving the information and are aggressively pursuing the suspected ADF rebels. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” SCP Enanga.
“They were travelling under Gorilla and Wildlife Safaris, a local tour company. In response to the incident, UWA has informed the Uganda Police Force and other security agencies who are working diligently to establish the precise sequence of events leading up to this horrific incident and to identify those responsible,” Spokesperson UWA – Bashir Hangi.
ADF is a rebel group that begun in Uganda but has moved its base to DR.Congo were it is now said to have connections with the Islamic State Group. It is against the ruling government in Uganda and has carried out a number of attacks including bombings and attacks on schools.
