President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon Justice Aisha Batala as the new Inspector General of Government replacing Hon Betty Namisango Kamya .

The appointment made in accordance with the presidents constitutional powers was announced by Farouk Kirunda the special presidents assistant for press and mobilisation and deputy press secretary.

The deputy IGGs ,Dr Patricia Achan Okiria and Mrs Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe have been retained in their positions .

Mr Kirunda added that the names of the appointees have been formally forwaded to parliament for vetting and approval.

Justice Batala is a seasoned jurist with extensive experience in Uganda’s judiciary, she is expected to steer the inspectorate of government in its constitutional mandate of promoting accountability ,transparency and fight against corruption in public office .

Her appointment marked the end of Hon Betty Kamya’s tenure as IGG ,during her term major reforms to strengthen asset recovery and anti-graft enforcement were made.

The president congratulated Justice Batala and the deputy IGG upon their appointments and also urged them to serve with integrity and dedication in upholding good governance and the rule of law
